Waffle, a beloved companion and cherished member of her family, passed away on June 9, 2026. Though she graced her family’s lives for only eight short months, the impact Waffle made during her time with them was profound and enduring.
Waffle, a spirited pugwawa, came into the Rutherford family’s world when she was just five weeks old. Despite her small size, she carried the heart and confidence of a much larger dog, much like her sister, who is a pitbull. Waffle’s personality was a charming blend of being winey, determined, and incredibly sweet. She was known for her spirited cries, which she employed to get what she wanted, and her feisty nature left no doubt about who was boss. Yet, at the close of each day, she softened, seeking cuddles and comfort beside her sisters, Bella and Wednesday, whom she affectionately loved to both torment and adore.
Her family treasures many memories of Waffle’s lively spirit. She loved the outdoors, running freely and exploring new places, though she distinctly disliked the car rides required to reach them. She ruled the house with a confident paw, delighting in her stuffed animals and anything chewable that crossed her path. Her favorite pastimes included basking on her pillows next to Bella and Wednesday, relishing baths, and savoring chicken, which was undoubtedly a highlight.
Waffle's presence brought invaluable lessons to her family. Her persistent insistence on getting her way taught patience, while her tenacity proved that big things truly come in small packages. Perhaps most importantly, she embodied a joyful spirit that lived fully in the present, reminding those who loved her that tomorrow is never promised, and life should be embraced with enthusiasm.
One poignant and bittersweet memory the family holds dear is from the morning of her passing. Her owner's brother entered the house to what would be her final surprise for him—a playful reminder of her mischievous nature. Known for sneaking into his room and leaving behind little traps, Waffle made quite an impression, and even in her absence, he found himself stepping in a pile that was unmistakably her parting gift.
The Rutherford family will forever cherish the months they shared with Waffle. Though her time was brief, it was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments that left an indelible mark on their hearts.
Waffle Rutherford's spirit, her loving warmth, and her feisty nature will be deeply missed but never forgotten. She was a beloved member of her family, and her memory will be honored always.
A final message from her family:
We are so sorry that your life was cut short. She touched every single person's heart that she met. She gave unconditional love and also is loved unconditionally. We miss her feisty, winey butt. Until we meet again. We love and miss you so much. You will forever be with us
