With heavy hearts, the Kane family announces the passing of their cherished Black Lab, Flower, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge after a courageous battle with bone cancer. Born in February 2013 and rescued on June 29 of that year, Flower was just four months old when she joined the Kane Clan—named after the gentle skunk in Bambi, and destined to be a loyal companion to Brandon.
Flower quickly bonded with her older Chocolate Lab brother, Jake, and became a vibrant part of the family. She and Brandon attended obedience school together, forming a bond built on trust and teamwork. Flower loved camping trips to White Birch, where she swam joyfully in the lake and played endless games of keep-away, always teasing with her toy just out of reach.
After Jake’s passing in 2016, Flower reigned as queen of the household until AJ, a spirited Chocolate Lab pup, arrived three years later. Though she protested his presence with a three-day hunger strike, she soon rediscovered her youthful spark—wrestling, zooming through the house, and becoming AJ’s playful partner.
Flower also shared a special bond with Grandpa Greg, becoming his walking buddy until his health declined. She was a dog of strong personality, deep affection, and a bark that could fill a room. Her love for people was matched only by her loyalty to her family.
In her final months, Flower showed remarkable resilience, never letting on that she was ill until her last night. She passed peacefully, surrounded by love, leaving behind paw prints on every heart she touched.
As her Momma, the quiet moments will be missed most—especially her gentle wait for the morning coffee mug, always ready for a lick. Flower was more than a pet; she was family, a sweet soul who brought joy, comfort, and laughter.
Fly high, baby girl. We know Grandpa Greg was there to greet you, and now you’re free to run again.
Forever loved. Forever missed.
