Some cats leave paw prints on your heart. Others leave a little bit of their tongue sticking out, a lifetime of memories, and a space beside you that will never feel quite the same.
Bandit was one of a kind.
Rescued into his family's lives, Bandit spent six and a half years making himself right at home and reminding them that the best things in life are often the silliest. He was derpy, energetic, and loving—a curious little troublemaker who was always trying to escape, chase the other cats, or find something new to investigate.
He loved looking out the window, especially during car rides, as though the world outside was his own personal adventure. Bottle caps were worthy toys, catnip was always welcome, and gravy lovers soft food was among his favorite treats. But above all else, Bandit loved being close to his people.
His favorite place to sleep was next to his owner, where he could be near the ones he loved. And when he slept, he had a signature habit that made him unmistakably Bandit: his tongue always stuck out. It was such a small, silly thing, but it became one of those special details that made him him—the kind of memory that will bring a smile even through the tears.
Bandit taught them patience, but perhaps his greatest lesson was that not everything needs to be fixed. Sometimes, all that is needed is love, a warm place to rest, and a few extra snuggles. He reminded them that love doesn’t have to be complicated to be profound, and that the smallest creatures can leave the biggest holes in our hearts.
His absence will be felt deeply by his family and his fellow cats, who will miss his presence, his antics, and all the little ways he made their world more interesting.
A final message from his family:
Bandit you're very loved and me and the other cats will miss you. Lincoln and Brandon won't forget your snuggles.
